Long Hair Success Story: Dry Shampoo
08/17/10 1:24PM
This week instead of focusing on my hair growing progress. I’m going to feature a success story. My friend Jessica (pictured before and after) has always had trouble growing her hair out because basically her hair takes double the time as is average. She was nice enough to agree to my case study, thus giving hope to the masses (or the handful of people who read this).
After a two year journey Jessica went from an above chin length ‘do to healthy, shiny, down-mid-back hair. Here is how she did it: a regular stylist and dry shampoo. The first is easy. Stick with a stylist that knows your goals (I personally am I hypocrite as I like to dabble in stylists myself, however I am determined to quit this habit). The second is genius: dry shampoo.
I know many people consider going multiple days without washing your hair gross, and that’s OK. However the less you wash, dry, brush your hair while wet, and style, the healthier it’s going to look long. Dry shampoo makes it possible to have that just washed, non greasy appearance with a few strategic sprays. Trust us.
Jessica recommends Batiste ($7-$11) as the ultimate dry shampoo with the bonus of being less expensive than the leading brands. She also has used Big Sexy Hair which is slightly more expensive and not as effective as hair grows past shoulder length. Next time you visit your stylist be sure to ask his/her opinion on dry shampoo brands (there are even some that provide wash out hair color in various shades of blond, red, brown and black).
